Dolls of the Pajaro Valley Historical Association 7/10/2007 by Rosellen Mastoris STEIFF RAG DOLL (C.1921) Although
best known for it's teddy bears, the Steiff company also produced a
wide range of dolls and other stuffed toys. The rag dolls first
produced in 1894, were usually made of felt and portrayed a wide range
of characters or caricatures of types, such as policemen, sailors,
circus entertainers, witgh exaggerated, often comical features, some
represented characters from books. The doll was found in the
library of the Bockius-Orr house when the PVHA assumed ownership of the
generously donated facility. He is a favorite of the whole staff!
